Used to be Brick Oven Gallery moved building was sold Kenny the owner now calls this one Kenny's Trattoria, food is even better than before prices are very very reasonable and menu is great. |

Homemade pastas and a ravioli du jour? Uncle Kenny's got you covered. Former Brick Oven Gallery owner spawns cutesy-cozy new Italian joint. Napoli trattoria satisfies Italian exchange students longing for mama, leaves plenty of room in the wallet for soon-to-follow PBRs. No pizzas, alas—Kenny shows his integrity, refuses to cook ‘em without a brick oven. But Brick Oven mourners take note: the Brooklyn Caviar lives on. Same dish, new digs. - black book |

go out of your way
generally pretty light, but always delicious. the pasta is home made and the entire meal is cooked to order. most entrees are fresh and cost about $12. The location isn't on any major walkways, so it's usually pretty easy to get a seat. i've been a few times and it's always fantastic. for moderately priced home made pasta, cant be beat in this neighborhood.
A gem in williamsburg!
I love this place. I was a regular at their former restaurant, Brick Oven Gallery and was happy to find the same great food and warm friendly service at their new place. Love all the fresh pasta dishes! Great outdoor garden as well! You just don't find that many friendly restaurants with great affordable food in williamsburg anymore. A great classic among all the too new and too modern restaurants. |

Kenny's Trattoria on Withers St. in Williamsburg hands down, best homemade pasta and sauce anywhere. Run, do not walk!!! Just discovered where Brick Oven Gallery went! |

Italy meets Brooklyn at this cozy restaurant, which serves up a menu of classic comfort dishes like ravioli, plus several dishes that were conceived at the owner's previous restaurants, including Brooklyn Caviar and Brick Oven Shrimp. - Brick Oven Gallery Moved to 7 Withers Street. Now called Kenny's Trattoria! |

“Excellent pasta!” |

Out of the ashes of Williamsburg's much-loved Brick Oven Gallery rises Kenny's, a casual Napoli trattoria from pizza master Kenny Perrone and three longtime neighborhood friends. Gallery's 100-year-old brick oven may have left the equation, but Kenny's menu is centered in the old world. Fifteen pastas, like homemade ravioli, are available daily, as well as entrees including grilled shrimp wrapped in prosciutto and steak pizzaiola. What does remain is Perrone's famous "Brooklyn caviar," which the inventor describes as a pureé of eggplant, fresh herbs, roasted tomatoes, olives and balsamic, served with flat bread. "Everybody loved that dish, so it had to stay," says the restaurant's namesake. Weekend brunch begins in a couple weeks, and a 75-person backyard becomes crucial in the warmer months. - metromix |

Like it's predecessor, Brick Oven Gallery, Kenny's will probably go largely unnoticed among the bevy of Italian restaurants in Williamsburg and that's a shame because Kenny has put together one of the most unique menus in the neighborhood. Old Brick Oven favorites like brick oven shrimp, Brooklyn caviar and prosciutto sushi (my personal favorite) are still there, along with a nice selection of pasta dishes. Kenny's might also be the only restaurant in NYC that serves the only-found-in-Williamsburg pork chops with sauerkraut and hot peppers. If you're looking for good, creative Italian or if you just want to get away from the insanity of Bedford avenue and enjoy a good meal I can't recommend this place enough. - boorah |

Up until several Mondays ago, ravioli, to me, was congruous to the leftover-y texture a la Chef Boyardee. I was used to these mechanics, of ravioli, even in restaurants. Now, there's nothing wrong with that - I'm a self-professed lover of leftover food.
Kenny's Trattoria is an anomaly in New York City. It's not superficial and runs counter to the pursuit of the next crazed menu item. It's traditional. It's authentic. It's real food.
I was fortunate to have gone with some friends who are regulars at Kenny's, and I have to say, the atmosphere is the most welcoming, uninhibited, and friendly one I've ever been in. You'll encounter lots of yelling, laughing, and inside jokes. My friend leaned over, above the laughter, and exclaimed, "this place isn't a restaurant, it's like a big kitchen." I walked out hugging some of their family members, and took away some of their history, along with some discussions about gentrification in the neighborhood. A truly stimulating experience for the taste buds and noodles (you know, your brains).
But back to the important logistics: the ravioli. My God, I've never known such little pillows of heaven to be what Chef Boyardee labels as "ravioli." They were so delicate, yet satisfying. All of their pasta is homemade, and you know you're eating freshly made, from scratch, food. I had their cappellini dish also, which, AGAIN, is nothing like reboiling pasta from any supermarket. Very few restaurant experiences are comparable to a night at Kenny's - it's even nicer in the garden. I've been here four times and the food's been absolutely fantastic every time. It's a small, unpretentious place, with great prices, and the chef/owner makes everything himself. There are plenty of good things for vegetarians, too, which is unusual at a traditional Italian place. Kenny's is by far the best Italian place in Williamsburg. My bf and I eagerly awaited the opening of Kenny's all summer, as we passed by it's renovations every weekend. We went by on opening night and I was pleasantly surprised- just because we anticipated something near by doesn't mean I expected it to be so tasty. |

Kenny's is a fine, fine Italian restaurant, up there with anything in Manhattan or here in Williamsburg (Bamonte's and Frost are the standard-bearers). Unlike those places the cusine is different, yet traditional. My only complaint is the portions are... too large! Great place and great hosts - Kenny and Nicole, when she is around. Just found this place a few weeks ago and have been back three times. Home made pasta (try the pappardelle bolognese), great chicken dishes (saltimbocca!) and the terrific prosciutto sushi and Brooklyn caviar appetizers make this place well worth it. Kenny (of Brick Oven Gallery fame) is a great guy and when he isn't cooking often comes out to chat with the regulars. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. Can't wait to go back. Kenny's is the best Italian place in Williamsburg. I've been here four times, and it's always been delicious. Lot's of good vegetarian options, too, which isn't always the case at a traditional Italian place.Posted by: Christian | February 19, 2009 04:58 PM Kenny's trattoria it's just amazing... the gnocchi gorgonzola is the best ever... and the chicken Milanese a great choice for the summer!!!
If you live in williamsburgh it is just a MUST!!!

Every dish from appitizer to Dessert was on the MARK! Looking forward to trying some of the other dishes soon! Was there this past Saturday with 5 other people and Kenny outdid himself with the new dishes. Everything was delicious and the prices were unbelievably cheap and the portions very large. plentynuff // Oct 9, 2008 at 2:20 pm Paolo Farlucci // Oct 25, 2008 at 1:52 am WOW, WOW, WOW. I came to this country 10 years ago from Napoli. Having eaten at the Brick Oven Gallery prior and feeling back at home with the great pizze - I knew I must try the new restaurant! Kenny’s Trattoria truly takes the dishes to the next level. I enjoyed the mussels very much and had also the gnocchi co gorgonzola. Molto Bene!! Bravo e Buona Fortuna a Kenny. - gowanus lounge |
